About The Event
Redress is a Hong Kong headquartered, Asia focused environmental NGO with a mission to accelerate the change to a circular fashion industry by educating and empowering designers and consumers so as to reduce clothing’s negative environmental impacts.Â
One of the ways Redress does this is by increasing the re-sale, re-use and recycling of clothing. Through the Clothing Takeback Programme, Redress collects unwanted clothing from Hong Kongers, and then carefully sort it together with volunteers in order to redistribute it for re-sale at Redress' secondhand stores, re-use by those in need in their community through their work with 10+ local charity partners, or recycling. Redress' careful sorting process maximises the value of each item, better supports their charity partners by matching clothing with their specific needs, and reduces wastage.
SDGs Redress Stands For:
- Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
Volunteer Duties:Â
- Help to unbox secondhand clothing donations into the sorting area.
- Help to carefully sort secondhand clothing donations into 15 categories based on the item's type and condition.
- Help to weigh boxes of sorted clothing and move them to the ‘OUT’ area.
- Help to tidy-up the sorting area at the end of the session.
